It was purchased 20 years ago from a second-hand dealer in Cairo, Egypt. I remember thinking, "It's rare to find a turtle with a human face!", which was particularly impressive. Another deciding factor in purchasing the product was that although it was small, it was heavy and heavy, and it felt that it was made from carving some kind of mineral or stone. Since then, I have been displaying it carefully on my bookshelves at home. Recently, I was curious about the hieroglyphs depicted at the bottom of the statue, so I looked it up using Google Lens and found that many images related to the god who controls "regeneration," "resurrection," "life," "female," "reproduction," and "fruit." After further investigation, we discovered that the "writing is written inside the ornament of an oval disc" at the bottom of the statue is called "cartouche," and was used in ancient Egypt as an amulet engraved with the king's name. However, most common Cartouche images are "only oval stones," and none of them were found depicted at the bottom of such "human-faced turtles." That's why I thought, "It's a one-of-a-kind item and probably has some kind of value." On the other hand, concerns have also arisen. If this were the real historical heritage of Egyptian civilization, it could violate laws that state that "Cultural heritage from around the world must not be brought up" and Mercari terms and conditions that "prohibit the sale of stolen goods." So, when I contacted the Ancient Orient Museum in Higashi-Ikebukuro, Tokyo by email with numerous images attached, they responded that "there is unlikely to be a stolen item from a historic heritage." Taking into account the above circumstances, we have decided to list this statue on Mercari.
