Born in Arakawa Ward, Tokyo, he joined Mushi Production in 1963. He has been in charge of videos, original drawings and directing the animated works such as Astro Boy, Jungle Emperor, and Knight of the Ribbon. After that, he became a freelancer, and in 1969 he wrote about the manga magazine COM, "Farewell!" He made his debut as a manga artist with ". He has since published many short films. From 1980 to 1982, he wrote one of his masterpieces, "Twelve Colors Tales." From 1983 to 1995, he published a series of feature films such as "Stone Flower," "VERSION," and "Akkangbee Ikkyu." He passed away on December 22, 1995 at the young age of 49. In 1996, Kakunbee Ikyu won the Excellence Award at the 25th Japan Manga Artists Association Award.
